Getting Caught Up

Marah had a birthday party to go to on Monday evening for twin girls in her class.

She was so excited to go!  She had a great time and came home with lots of plans for her own birthday party! 

Yesterday I thought it would be fun to make that old-fashioned glass candy that I had as a kid at Christmas.  I figured I could make it orange, lemon, cherry, or lime flavored for summertime and the girls would have fun doing it.  Away I went searching for the recipe.  I found it and it sounded so easy.  {Worst part being waiting for it to harden.}  I was all ready to go and had the girls psyched up for it and...no candy thermometer!  I would have bet my life on me having a candy thermometer.  {Those of you that know me well enough know that at one time I probably did in fact have a candy thermometer and somehow decided it was cluttering up my life and sold it on a yard sale for a whopping QUARTER!}  Anyhoo... I attempted to save the day by offering to buy a{nother} candy thermometer at the Dollar General but in the mean time we could make these:

 a little recipe I came across while looking for the glass candy recipe.  Homemade peanut butter cups!  Every good mom knows that peanut butter can save the day ; )

Marah has been working super hard on her workbook this summer.  I promised her a surprise if we got thru the whole book while we were on summer vacation.

Addition and Subtraction

She's decided that she's working for a pizza party!

Tonight we're headed to Makenna's softball game.  The whole softball thing has been quite dramatic.  We ended up getting her schedule for the season on Thursday of last week.  I didn't realize that every game {except tonight's} is on a Monday night.  Makenna is already committed to horse 4H every Monday night until fair.  Sister is serious about her horses!  So, we decided to tell the coaches she wouldn't be playing softball after all this summer considering the conflicting schedule with her 4H club.  They said not to worry, just come to any game/practice you can and just have fun with the team.  So...off we go tonight to her {first and last} game of the season.  GOOD LUCK, GIRLS!!

Now that we're all caught up, the laundry is calling my name...
