It Rained!

If you're a farm kid, were raised on a farm, worked for a farmer, had a friend that was "the farmer's daughter",  or even just grew up where the corn grows, you know how important rain is.  Not just that it's vital for good yields and to save on irrigating costs, but that if it rains ENOUGH you might get to go on a summer vacation like all the other normal people in the world.  That being said, I want ya to know this:  It. Rained.  Yeah, enough that we could get away.  We took a little family vacay and went to the Hastings museum and planetarium.  We went to swim in Omaha at Coco Key Water Resort, and then we visited the State Capitol and took a tour of Memorial Stadium.  It was such a blast and the tour guide at the stadium even let us go out on the football field.  It felt like we were on sacred ground.  It was all I could do to not run and jump and do snow angels right there on the astro-turf.  I could actually picture myself running for the end-zone with  Chariots of Fire  music in the background.

*I'll give ya a minute to visualize, too*

Ah-mazing.  We got photos of the blessed occasion.  I'm thinking of having poster-sized ones made to hang in all of our bedrooms.  (just jokes)

"Press Box"  Where the media watches the game.

On the field!

Tunnel entrance!

Our state capitol.

Where laws are made ; )

I was wanting to take the girls somewhere a little farther than just Omaha/Lincoln, but it turns out that Dorothy Gale was right: "You never have to travel any farther than your own backyard."  Or something like that...I don't know, people.  Go watch and then let me know!

Hope you've all gotten the chance to get away this summer!
